Yoga styles: Hatha, Meditation, Nidra
Teaching since: 2015
My name is Maaike, I'm 30 years old, Dutch but living in Paris and I teach Hatha yoga and meditation.
I started yoga myself when I was going through a difficult period in my life. It helped me connect with my inner desires and finding my strengths and direction for the future. I became very interested in learning more and decided to deepen my knowledge by doing more yoga and retreats. I loved doing yoga each day and trying different styles. At some point I felt I needed to go to the roots of yoga and go to India.
In 2015 I completed my 200 RYS yoga teacher training course at the Green Yoga India institute in Goa. This Yoga Teacher Training course was a change in my life and gave me perspective. I learned so much about Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha, Meditation and many more that after I felt I wanted to share this knowledge with the world and start teaching yoga myself.
I now teach a combination of Hatha yoga with pranayama and meditation. Hatha is the most widespread yoga in the West. It is based on a combination of breathing (Pranayama), postures (asanas) and relaxation. This is a non-competitive yoga and consists of many levels, allowing practitioners to gradually advance and improve. I end my classes with a soft introduction into meditation.
One of my favorite classes to teach is Yoga Nidra.
