Born in Germany, I grew up in France and later lived in Italy, Wales, Croatia and Spain. My current home is London. Before becoming a yoga teacher, I worked as a translator in international organizations. My interest in health issues, languages, environmental conservation and world politics feeds into the blogposts on my website, http://www.yoga-in-action.com. Satish Kumar, the “Earth Pilgrim”, is my role-model.
Yoga was initially a way to heal my chronic back pain caused by spending endless hours seated in front of my computer. I discovered a way to grow physically stronger as well as mentally and emotionally more stable and positive. The philosophy of the 8 limbs of yoga also resonated deeply with me. I became a teacher by “accident” (karma?) in 2007/ 2008, because I decided to spend a month in an Indian ashram on a training course to celebrate my 35th birthday in a “different” way. I never expected to dedicate myself to teaching, but almost 10 years later, I have taught innumerable classes and workshops as well as several international retreats. Yoga has taken me on an endless journey of self-discovery and service.
After 3 intense years with the Sivananda school of Hatha yoga, I expanded my knowledge through Satyananda (yoga nidra) Rainbow Yoga (children and families), hormone yoga in the Dinah Rodriguez tradition, and most recently Birthlight (pre- and postnatal yoga). I am a 200-hour certified member of Yoga Alliance UK and a Level 2 Birthlight Perinatal teacher. I also hold certificates in Ayurvedic massage and Thai yoga massage.
My priorities: keeping the students safe, building sequences tailored to their needs, and making sure they learn techniques that will be useful in their daily life. I aim to give simple and precise instructions and to focus on the harmony between breath and movement, action and stillness. The atmosphere in class is peaceful, but we also like to laugh (especially at ourselves). Students tell me they feel nurtured and inspired to integrate yoga into their lives. I teach in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. Oh, and last but not least, my postnatal students nick-named me “the baby-whisperer”.
